The Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre has announced the appointment of Uwe Habermehl as Executive Chef.
With more than 20 years' experience as a chef in Europe and Australia, Uwe has been one of the top chefs at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre since 1998.
Announcing the appointment, Centre Chief Executive Ton van Amerongen said Uwe's qualifications were without peer.
"Uwe is an expert not only in planning for large events but also in delivering a superb dining experience," Mr van Amerongen said.
"He is passionate about the food he creates and that is reflected in the enthusiastic feedback we get from our clients."
Mr van Amerongen said Uwe had been responsible for developing the Centre's award-winning culinary team and was the ideal person to lead them into the next decade.
Born and raised in Germany, Uwe has worked at a range of high profile establishments from Hilton Hotels in London and Munich to P&O Resorts' Cradle Mountain Lodge and Heron island Resort in Australia.
Enticed by the prospect of working in large-scale culinary environment, Uwe joined the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre in 1998.
A huge fan of Australian produce, Uwe's philosophy is to keep cuisine simple and let the quality of the ingredients shine.
His appointment follows the recent departure of former Executive Chef Detlef Haupt who has moved overseas.
