The Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre strives to integrate sound environmental values, principles and practices in all its roles and operations. 

The venue is committed to considering the environment in all business activities and to understand the important role it plays in its position on the Sydney Harbour foreshore.

This is achieved through the Centre's environmental policy which contains the following key elements.  The Centre must:

• Understand and comply with the relevant legislation pertaining to the environment
• Respect the relationship the venue plays with Sydney Harbour by ensuring our activities have no negative impact
• Work with suppliers and contractors to develop more environmentally friendly practices in purchasing and packaging
• Manage programs that reduce both water and energy consumption without compromising our customer service
• Have a waste management program that reduces the volume of waste that is delivered to landfill sites

The Centre has created an environmental management program, ecowise, to ensure that the key elements of this policy become entrenched in the venue's business processes and systems.  Driven by a group of dedicated employees, the ecowise program has achieved many advances in reducing water and energy consumption and creating more efficient waste management practices.
