The Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre is committed to providing an accessible venue that can be enjoyed by all visitors. The following information will assist guests with special needs.
General Information
- The Centre's staff are able to assist with any request you may have. The Centre has an extensive safety policy and all staff are trained in emergency response evacuation procedures. The Information Desk is centrally located in the main foyer on the ground level of Convention Centre Bayside and can offer assistance or answer questions.
- All Centre Security staff are trained in First Aid and are onsite 24 hours per day.
- Two wheelchairs are available for public use. These can be borrowed from the Exhibitor Services Desk located in the Exhibition Hall 3 foyer.
- Trained guide dogs are welcome in the Centre at all times.
- The Centre can cater to special dietary needs, so please contact your event organiser to ensure that prior arrangements are made.
Getting to the Centre
Darling Harbour and the Centre can be accessed by road, rail or monorail:
- Light Rail stations are located adjacent to Centre (Convention and Exhibition stations). Both stations have ramp access links to the Centre.
- The Convention Centre Monorail station can be accessed via lifts and ramps from the Centre.
- Taxis ranks are located directly outside the venue with level walking into the ground floor of the Convention Centre. Taxis can be called from the main Information Desk located near the foyer on the ground level of Convention Centre Bayside.
- If travelling by car, undercover parking can be accessed via Darling Drive, Darling Harbour. There are 900 spaces available, including 18 disabled spaces located throughout the length of the car park. Disabled spaces are clearly marked. A Porte Cochere is available at the northern and southern end of the Convention Centre for drop offs.
- Coach Transfer to the venue is an option, with parking for coaches available on Darling Drive. Drop off and pick up areas are conveniently located outside the Convention Centre and the Exhibition Centre.
- Walkways - all external pathways are paved and flat allowing easy access into the Centre.
Internal Access
- Five lifts and ten escalators offer access to all levels within the Centre, including the underground car park.
- All stairs within the venue have handrails.
- There is access to all levels by ramp or lift. Temporary ramps are available for access to stages if required.
- All meeting rooms and halls within the Centre are wheelchair accessible. The auditoria have space allocated on the ground level for wheelchairs.
- The building complies with disability access requirements.
- Lounge areas are available in public areas, providing resting spots for guests.
Facilities
- There are 7 wheelchair accessible toilets located throughout the Convention and Exhibition Centre and these are clearly signposted.
- Telephones - A TTY service telephone is located in Convention Centre Parkside.
- Hearing induction loops are fitted in the Bayside Auditorium and the Parkside Auditorium. Delegates with hearing aids should use their 'T' switch in these rooms.
