Centre Wins Record Five National MEA Awards

The Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre has won a record five categories at the prestigious National Meetings & Events Australia (MEA) Awards, announced in Darwin last night.

Reflecting its professionalism across a wide range of areas, the Centre was awarded the top accolades for In-House AV Services, Banquet and Catering and Education.

The Centre’s Senior Event Manager Emma Rutledge also won Events Manager of the Year and Events Manager Professional of the Year.

Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre Cuts the Cake to Celebrate 25 Years

The Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre celebrated its 25^th anniversary on Saturday, marking a milestone for the Australian events sector.

Centre Chief Executive Ton van Amerongen said the May 4 silver anniversary was cause for celebration across the business events industry.

“The past 25 years have seen remarkable development in the national business events landscape,” Mr van Amerongen said.

Centre's Success Recognised at MEA NSW Awards

The Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre is celebrating a record number of wins at this year’s Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) NSW Awards event, topping five categories in the prestigious awards.

In recognition of its professionalism and leadership in venue management, the Centre was announced the winner of the awards for Meeting Venue – 500 delegates or more, In-house AV Services and Banqueting & Catering at last night’s ceremony held at Sydney’s Luna Park.

The venue also collected the Corporate Social Responsibility award in recognition of the work of its Ecowise and C-connect committees, which continued to undertake a range of green initiatives and CSR activities during 2012.

Thanks for the Memories - Centre Calls for Memorabilia

The Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre is calling on the events industry to share images from its past as it prepares to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

Centre Director of Marketing and Sales, Amanda Anker, said the venue was compiling a collection of memorabilia to mark the milestone.

"Over the past 25 years, there have been many exciting and colourful events held at the Centre. We're hoping that some of our industry colleagues will have photos, videos of DVDs of those great events, which they can share with us for our trip down memory lane," Ms Anker said.
